D-CARBONIZE doctoral candidates Sara Faoro and Angelo Scopano took part in the European Researchers’ Night in Tarragona, as part of the activities organised by ICIQ to bring chemistry and scientific research closer to the public.
Throughout the event, Sara and Angelo had the opportunity to meet visitors and introduce them to their research within the D-CARBONIZE MSCA Doctoral Network. They explained the research they are carrying out in the laboratory and discussed how their work contributes to the development of more sustainable and circular materials.
To make the science more accessible and engaging, the doctoral candidates also carried out hands-on experiments showing some of the basic principles underlying their research. These practical demonstrations helped visitors better understand the chemistry behind the work and encouraged conversations between researchers and the public.
Taking part in events such as the European Researchers’ Night is also an important part of the doctoral experience, giving early-career researchers the opportunity to communicate their work to non-specialist audiences and develop their science communication skills.
Through the participation of Sara and Angelo, D-CARBONIZE research reached new audiences beyond the laboratory, highlighting both the science being developed within the network and the researchers behind it.
