LILAS AUBEL

PhD student at ULIEGE and ICIQ

About me

I have a background in chemistry and physics. I hold a Master degree in chemistry with an emphasis on polymer science and green chemistry from the Graduate School of Chemistry, Biology, and Physics of Bordeaux (ENSCBP) in France. (2023)

My study interests are mainly focused on sustainable polymers and materials, fields in which I have carried out several projects. In the start-up B’ZEOS in Barcelona, Spain (2022), I worked as an R&D intern on the development of alginate-based films for food packaging, mainly focusing on the moisture sensitivity and the mechanical properties of the films. My research experience also includes an internship at the Institut Charles Gerhardt in Montpellier (ICGM, CNRS) in France (2023), where I studied the synthesis of a biobased monomer platform and their radical polymerization in emulsion to obtain biobased and degradable latexes. These projects and the pressing need to preserve the environment reinforced my decision to pursue my studies in the field of the circular economy of polymers.

I look forward to improving my knowledge of polymer science and contributing to a new biocarbon-based value chain with this PhD program. The strong focus of the D-Carbonize project on interdisciplinary and international research, as well as its commitment to sustainability, perfectly aligns with my research interests and personal values.
